When

Interrogating Methodologies: Exploring Boundaries in Art & Science

April 18-19, IHC McCune Conference Room, 6020 HSSB, UC Santa Barbara

A multi-disciplinary symposium comparing methodologies from the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts to interrogate questions at the heart of research methods and practices.

The panels have been created to address core questions related to interdiscipl inarity research, interaction, and outreach. Experts in the field will share and exchange insights in panels that include: 1) The Big Picture: Visualizing Big Data; 2) Interrogating the Methodologies of Art & Science; 3) Citizen Science: How does the Public Contribute to Science? 4) Asking the Right Questions, Avoiding the Wrong Ones, How Research Evolves; 5) Inviting Artists into the Lab and Science into the Museum; 6) Art and Science: Sources of the Great Divide.

The Symposium has been organized by George Legrady, chair of Media Arts & Technology, UCSB, and John Weber, director of the Institute of the Arts & Science UC Santa Cruz. Sponsors include the Center for Nanotechnology in Society (CNS) and the Art, Design & Architecture Museum (ADAM).
