Kitchell Architecture and Design Lecture Series: Mark Mack, Architect

Easy Living, Light Architecture in a Dark World

Mark Mack studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, worked for Hans Hollein in Vienna and Emilio Ambasz in New York, before opening an office in San Francisco with Andrew Batey in 1978.

While a partner in Batey/Mack, he won attention for a series of villas in Northern California, which established his interest and experimentation in housing. He established Mack Architects in 1984 and moved to Los Angeles in 1993. His elegant and colorful architecture has been built around the world, widely published, and admired for its “inclusive modernism.”
