Sophia Quach McCabe holds a Ph.D. in History of Art and Architecture from the University of California, Santa Barbara, an M.A. in Art History from Temple University, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Ohio State University. Dr. McCabe's work in museums encompasses curatorial, programming, provenance, and collecting and markets, with expertise in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century art. She has received fellowships and grants from the German-American Fulbright Commission and the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, among others, for her research, and has published on her specialities of cultural exchanges and networks between Germany and Italy, collections, and artistic techniques.
Prior to the AD&A Museum, she was at the Getty Research Institute, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and most recently the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. As an art historian with a background in engineering and marketing, she works to inspire and engage the UCSB academic community and the public through multimedia platforms.
