The Carlos Diniz Studio:  Techniques and Background on 20th Century Architectural Illustration

Espinoza will discuss the history and techniques of his mentor Carlos Diniz, whose work shaped the way architectural concepts were visualized in the later half of the 20th century with projects including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, among others.

Carlos Diniz was an influential architectural illustrator who worked with many of the major architects of the 20th century, including Craig Ellwood, Cesar Pelli, Minoru Yamasaki, SOM, HOK, Frank Gehry, Barton Myers, and many others. The Carlos Diniz Archive is now part of the Museum’s Architecture and Design Collection.

Espinoza, the step-son of Carlos Diniz, worked with Diniz and continued the business when he retired. Ian Espinoza Associates creates architectural renderings for architects around the country.
